Flame Retardant ACP Panels and Why They Matter

Concrete, steel and timber are the materials of choice for most construction in cities. Aluminum Composite Panels or ACP panels consist of three layers; the two outer layers are made of thin aluminum sheets, while the middle layer is made of a low-density core. Low density bases are usually made of polyethylene foam.

Due to the "sandwich" foam layer between the two aluminum panels, the panels are known as "sandwich panels" or "sandwich structural composites".

Aluminum-plastic composite panels have different thermal conductivity values. These values depend on the sandwich material of the core. ACP panels are generally poor conductors of thermal energy, meaning they don't conduct heat well.

This characteristic is due to the design of the board itself. The gap between the two outer layers minimizes thermal bridging and thus poor thermal conductivity.
